Circulation Policy

For registered RCC students, a current RCC ID or valid North Carolina driver's license is required to borrow library material. Residents of Scotland and Richmond counties who are not students may borrow library material with a valid North Carolina driver's license and proof of residency. Books, paperbacks and pamphlet materials are loaned for a two-week period. Reference books, reserve books, magazines/periodicals and newspapers are not loaned.

Loaned items may be renewed a maximum of three times unless someone has requested the items. Borrowers may come to the library or telephone (up to the day the items are due) to request a renewal. After the due date, the items must be returned to the library and fines paid before items are renewed. Fines for each overdue item is five cents per day, computed for those days the library is open. A replacement fee is charged for lost items. All library obligations must be cleared at the end of each semester.

Student Conduct
Smoking, eating and drinking are not allowed in the library. The library is intended as a quiet area for reading, studying and research. Respect those who use it for these purposes. Any patron found guilty of theft or mutilation of materials will be charged for damages or replacement of the materials and in turn will lose library privileges.

Library Collection
The library's collection includes over 27,000 books in its general, reference and special collections.  The collection is arranged according to the Library of Congress Classification System.

In order to provide access to additional resources either on-site or through interlibrary loan, the library participates in cooperative agreements with Cape Fear Health Sciences Information Consortium; Community College Libraries in NC; St. Andrews; UNC-Pembroke; Richmond and Scotland County public libraries.

The library also has a wide variety of magazines, newspapers, online databases and pamphlets to supplement the College's degree, diploma, certificate, and college transfer programs.
