FINANCIAL AID INFORMATION
Financial aid is financial assistance to help you to pay for your college expenses.
Aid covers school expenses including tuition and fees, room and board, books
and supplies, and transportation.
Grants---financial aid funds you don’t have to repay.
Generally, you have to be an undergraduate student, and the amount you receive
depends on your need, cost of the school, and enrollment status (full-time or
part-time).
Federal Pell Grant--funds to help undergraduates pay for
their education. Eligibility is determined by a standard formula passed into
law by Congress. Amount of award is based on cost of education, enrollment status,
and length of attendance. These funds generally do not have to be repaid.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG)--funds
for undergraduates with exceptional financial need with priority given to Federal
Pell Grant recipients. The amount of the grant is determined by financial need,
the amount of FSEOG funds available at the college, and the amount of all other
aid you are receiving. These funds generally do not have to be repaid.
Federal Work-Study--provides jobs for undergraduates and students
with previous baccalaureate degrees. FWS encourages community service work and
work related to your course of student, whenever possible. Students at RCC are
paid more than the current minimum federal wage. The amount of the award is
determined by financial need, the amount of funds available at the college,
and the amount of aid you get from other programs.
Loans—borrowed money you must repay with interest. RCC
does not participate in the federal Perkins, Stafford, or William D. Ford Federal
Direct Loans.
The AmeriCorps Program—provides full-time educational
awards in return for work in community service. You can work before, during,
or after your postsecondary education, and you can use the funds either to pay
current educational expenses or to repay federal student loans. For more information
on the availability of these awards, call 1-800-942-2677. Information is also
