Welcome to the online orientation for Blackboard.

This brief orientation will show you the basics of Blackboard and student email.  Although this orientation is not meant to cover all the capabilities of Blackboard, it will get you started in using Blackboard successfully for distance learning classes.

If you are a new Blackboard user, it is strongly recommended that you go through each topic. Afterwards, you can always come back here for a "refresher" on any particular topic.

You may click on any of the topics below to start.

Getting to Blackboard
This will explain how to reach the RCC's Blackboard web site.
Logging In
How to use your username and password to access your online courses is discussed here.
Using the Discussion Board
With the discussion board you can interact with your instructor and fellow students. Step-by-step instructions for using the discussion board are here.
The Student User Manual
Blackboard contains a student manual that provides help on many aspects of Blackboard. If you need access to a feature not covered in this brief orientation, the student manual is a good place to find help.
Accessing Student Email
Each student is provided with an email address and box. This will show you how to access it. (New for Summer 2007.)
Getting Help If you have a problem, here's how to get help.
