High School Dual / Concurrent Enrollment

 

  • Tuition is free.

  • Students are responsible for paying for books unless specified otherwise by the school system.

  • Students pay $22.00 for an activity and technology fee. Nursing Assistant students also pay $13.00 for insurance.

  • Students pick up books at the RCC Bookstore and return them to the high school at the end of the semester

  • Grades are available to the students via Web Advisor at the end of each semester

  • Classes taken at Richmond Community College get honors credit on the high school transcript

Dual/Concurrent Enrollment students must be 16 years old in order to enroll in Richmond Community College courses with prefixes of AST (Astronomy), BIO (Biology), CHM (Chemistry), CIS (Computer Information Systems), GEL (Geology), IMS (Integrated Math/Science), MAT (Math), PHS (Physical Science), PHY (Physics), SCI (Sciences) and all technical course prefixes such as BUS, MED, EDU, etc.

These classes can be taken on the RCC campus first or fourth blocks or In the eveningsor on line.

 

Students must:

  • Be enrolled at least half-time at the high school and pursuing the high school diploma.

  • Have approval from the principal or designee

  • Complete an application for admission to RCC.

  • Take and make successful scores on the ACCUPLACER assessment for college classes that have prerequisites. (If a student has taken the SAT and made 450 on the verbal/reading and 450 on math, the Accuplacer is waived. If a student has taken the ACT and made 18 on Reading, 18 on English, and 17 on math, the Accuplacer is waived.) The following ACCUPLACER assessment scores are the minimum scores required for placement into identified reading, English, algebra, and arithmetic classes.

The ACCUPLACER assessment may be taken three times in one year.

(Remediation is recommended before reassessing.) All courses do not require the ACCUPLACER assessment. The students should talk with a counselor or a dual enrollment advisor to discuss courses that he or she wants to take.

You may call RCC (910) 410-1730 and schedule a time to take the ACCUPLACER assessment. It is FREE! Or you may take it at your high school on scheduled afternoons.

 

Dual/ Concurrent/LEO students must register for courses at Richmon Community College during registration times . These courses may be offered day or evening at RCC or online during fall, spring or summer sessions.
