Hamlet, NC - January 23, 2012

Bob DavisRobert (Bob) C. Davis of Laurel Hill has been appointed to the Richmond Community College Board of Trustees by the Scotland County Commissioners. Elected in 2008, he serves as chairman of the commission and last year participated in negotiations resulting in the relocation of the Scotland Early College High School program to the St. Andrews University campus.

"I think that was a 'win-win' situation for all parties involved. RCC is a driving force in Scotland and Richmond counties. We certainly consider them an economic tool and include them when making presentations to industrial prospects. I think the industrial programs they offer and the training courses they provide industries make them a huge asset to our region," he said.

Davis' varied background makes him a valuable member to the board. A former RCC student, he has been self-employed and also worked in industry, construction, and trucking. Although he says he is retired, he keeps himself busy by growing timber. When considering issues, he has a broad perspective and can bring good ideas to the table.
