Community College's JobsNOW "12 in 6" Project. The 12 programs range
from Phlebotomy to Electrical Wiring.
JobsNOW is focused at offering short-term programs from one to six months
for people who are dislocated workers, people who want to change careers,
and people who desire more skilled training to be able to compete in the job
market. These programs will prepare individuals to go back out into the job
market.

This program is designed to provide an in-depth knowledge of the principles
of electrical
wiring as it applies to commercial/residential applications.
Emphasis is on Ohm's Law,
alternating and direct current, series
circuits, parallel circuits and series parallel circuits, use
of electrical
tools and equipment, wiring materials and many other special subjects.
Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting as well as National Electrical
Code will be
covered. This program leads to employment in the
commercial/residential wiring industry.

This program is designed for commercial growers, nurserymen, ground
crews, and groundskeepers for golf courses, institutions and resorts.
Training will be provided in the proper method of landscape design, plant
selection, installation, cultivation and maintenance. Special emphasis will
be placed on arbor culture, turf management and horticultural applications.

12 Jobs in 6 Months Employing American Recovery and Reinventment Act
(ARRA) Funds.
This program is designed to provide an in-depth knowledge of the principles
of electrical wiring as it applies to commercial/residential applications.

equipment, wiring materials and many other special subjects. Preventive

This training prepares individuals to work in the construction industry as
masons. Course work includes basic mathematics, blueprint reading, and
methods used in laying out masonry jobs for residential, commercial, and
industrial construction. Upon completions, students will be able to read
blueprints, estimate structures, construct footings and walks, and lay masonry
units.

Phlebotomy training prepares the student to draw blood specimens from patients
for the purpose of testing and analyzing blood. A phlebotomist's job includes
maintenance of equipment used in obtaining blood specimen; the use of
appropriate communication skills when working with patients; the selection of
venipuncture sites; the care of blood specimen; and the entry of the testing
process into the computer, as well as clerical duties associated with
record keeping of the blood tests.

Prerequisite: HS Diploma/GED, Reading Test score of 67 or better, and the
cost of tuition. Student must be responsible for providing documentations
during preregistration. Other documents such as the Drug Screen, Hep B
Vaccine, TB Skin Test, Shot Record, and Physical will be required by the
2nd week of class.
This program provides basic instruction in plumbing fundamentals and skills
as applied to the home building trade. Course topics will include plumbing
fundamentals, the proper use of tools and equipment, workplace safety, and
related topics. Instruction focuses on the assembly, installation, alteration, and
repair of pipelines or pipe systems that carry water, steam, air, or other liquids
or gases. May also provide training on installing heating and cooling
equipment and mechanical control systems.
