

Whether you have a desire to start a new business, are in need of business counseling for your existing business, or seek professional development courses, the Small Business Center has something to offer you. Special programs include GATE (Growing American Through Entrepreneurship) and the REAL (Rural Entrepreneurship through Action Learning).
Professional development seminars include how to start a business, how to motivate employees, how to work with difficult people, and how to use the Internet to market your business. These 1 to 3 hour seminars are free or only $5, when a light lunch is served. Most seminars are held from 9 a.m. until noon or 6 - 9 p.m.

Growing America Through Entrepreneurship (GATE) is a program co-sponsored by RCC and the Employment Security Commission JobLink Centers in Richmond and Scotland Counties. GATE targets people who have been dislocated (lost a job through no fault of their own) and are eligible for the Workforce Investment Act (WIA). Funds are available to qualified participants to receive individual business counseling, take courses related to establishing their individual businesses and assistance in completing loan packages.
